Our marketing goals are always changing. Ten years ago most companies would be happy to have a flat logo, now the demand is for 3D logos and video logos. In the next few years, well there’s a good chance you’re going to be wanting a virtual logo. For the minute though you probably need a good video logo maker.
To help you create a video logo for your Youtube channel or that next project for your client we shortlisted the best video logo makers around. Before we cover these options, let’s discuss some of the obvious points.
What is a Video Logo Maker
A video logo maker is a tool that allows you to create a custom animated logo for your project. At the top end of the market are software options like Cinema 4D, which can feel like you need a degree in graphics design and 5 years of experience working behind a laptop to use.
While such platforms are extremely versatile, the fact they are so difficult to use means they’re not an option for most designers. Luckily some clever software developers have created simple Photoshop alternatives, a bit like Canva, but for creating 3D animated logos.
Most of these platforms use template-style animations that you can easily edit by uploading your custom logo then rendering and exporting the finished product. These easy-to-use platforms are the kind of thing you’re probably after.
What Should You Look For From a Video Logo Maker
There are many video logo makers available online. However, you need to be careful when choosing the best one. Here are some things that you should look for in a good video logo maker:
1. Large Number of Templates
You want your logo to be professional and well-designed. A good video logo maker should have dozens of different templates you can choose from them. The logos should be suitable for companies and video channels operating across a range of different niches.
2. Easy to Use Interface
A good video logo maker should have a user-friendly interface. It is important to make it easy for you to customize your logo too. The more options you have, the better. You may want to add text or change colors on your logo to better fit your brand. That will make it easy for you to create a design that looks unique.
You should check you can export the video logo in different formats too.
3. Fair Pricing & Great Support
Your needs for a video logo maker will vary a bit depending on whether you’re an agency offering a service to clients, or a business looking for one design you can use for all your video marketing efforts. You’ll either want a solution where you can pay by design or an online platform that costs a fixed monthly price.
The last thing you want is to get stuck with a poorly designed logo because the video logo maker did not work properly. Therefore, always check if the company offers customer support.
You can find a list of our favorite logo makers with key information provided in the table below.
Software | Starting From | Best Thing About It | Biggest Problem |
---|---|---|---|
Viddyoze | $97 lifetime | Simple pricing. | Upsells. |
RenderForest | $15 a month. | Best software solution. | Recurring fees. |
Video Bolt | $5.99 a month. | Good all-around tool. | Recurring fees. |
Very Logo | $29 per animation. | One-time price. | Terrible UI. |
You can see there’s a big range in what’s available. I’ll start this review of the best video logo maker with the product that offers the best value for money. It also happens to be a very popular product.
Viddyoze
Viddyoze is a video logo maker created by a team of online marketers with marketers in mind. It was launched back in 2015 and they’ve updated it with a new version of the platform each year (we’re currently on version 3.0). You can read a Viddyoze user review here.
The idea behind Viddyoze was to create a good-looking and easy-to-use online software platform for creating 3D animated logos. I think they’ve done a good job. The UI is logical and easy to navigate with that three-step process I was talking about earlier (upload your logo, render the video, and export).
In addition to the classic intro and outro animations, Viddyoze allows the user to create in-context videos. For example, you can add your logo on a video of a person wearing a t-shirt, or on a wall that some guys are spray painting. Kind of what you’d expect from a mockup generator, only it works with video.
I can see how these types of videos would be useful for small businesses and e-commerce stores…
The price point is very attractive. You get lifetime access to Viddyoze for $97 with the personal license and $127 with the commercial license. You are limited to 30 animated logos rendered a month. This is more than fair given the cost of hosting such a service.
As you would expect from a product that offers access to the platform for a one-time fee there are upsells. These aren’t essential and choosing to purchase them is really a personal choice. Overall Viddyoze is a good product at a fair price point. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for a video logo maker.
RenderForest
RenderForest is the heavyweight video logo maker in this niche. It outdoes its competitors in terms of the range of services offered and the number of templates available.
The company styles itself as an intro maker, slideshow, and video creator. You can use RenderForest to create videos for Youtube, explainer animations and presentations, slideshow videos, mobile app videos, music visualizations, and promotional videos and advertisements.
It’s a long list. Plus you get value-added bonuses like access to a catalog of 115,000 copyright-free stock videos.
As you’d expect from an established brand, everything about the product has that slick professional feel. The site looks great, the user flow makes sense and the user interface is well designed and easy to use (with a good walkthrough to help get you started).
RenderForest would be at the top of the list, but for the fact that it uses a Software as a Service payment model (I’d rather pay more money once than less money every month). I’ll ignore the freemium service, exporting at 360p with a watermark just isn’t a good deal in my book…
The pro plans start from $15 a month and go up to $149 a month. There’s no difference in the number of exports you can make between the price plans. The main difference is the length of videos you can export. This starts at a max of up to 5 min and goes all the way up to 120 minutes, though I can’t imagine anyone making a feature-length film on RenderForest.
Video Bolt
Video Bolt is another top choice if you’re looking for a good video logo maker. The platform is designed to do more than just create your classic animated logo.
Here’s a snapshot of the different things you can do with Video Bolt:
- Logo Intros – animated logo intros for your videos.
- Music Visualizers – automatically creates visuals for a music track.
- Instagram Stories – ready to edit templates you can use for your Instagram stories. It’s a useful Instagram marketing tool.
- Personalized Videos – These are a bit like Powerpoint sequences for small businesses. For example nice animations for showcasing a restaurant menu, that sort of thing.
- Outro Animations – The opposite of a video intro 😉
The core functionality is as a video logo maker. As you can see though, it’s a lot of options that will cover the video animation needs of a lot of small to medium-sized businesses.
Of course, the most important factors are how easy is it to use, the quality of the animations, and the size of the library. Video Bolt doesn’t disappoint.
The user interface is easy to navigate and looks great. It uses the same three-step process I’ve discussed already. They have high-quality animations and you get access to a library of 85 animated video logos, plus all those extras I discussed with no upsells or expensive add-ons.
Video Bolt uses a SaaS payment model. It has four-tiered pricing options. The cheapest is Basic, which costs $5.99 a month for 12 videos a year. This Works out as $5.99 a video, which isn’t great value for money. While more expensive, the other packages offer better value.
Very Logo
Very Logo is probably the simplest animated logo maker on this list. It’s got a decent-sized library with 68 logo animation templates. While the quality of the logo animations is on par with the other platforms, the UI feels in desperate need of an update.
You can see what I mean in that screenshot above…
Despite the painful appearance, it’s really easy to create an animated logo with Very Logo. You add music to the template animation, upload your logo, render the video and you’re done.
Unfortunately, you’ll be hit with a big bill if you want to save the animation to use for your own projects. It costs $39 per design with an export quality of 1080p HD, which is basically standard for video at the moment, or $29 for an export quality of 720p.
Alternative Solutions
If you want to create original video logos without a template you’ll need to use professional animated logo software. There are quite a few premium options available. Top of the list you have software solutions like Autodesk Maya, Adobe Animate, and Cinema 4D.
You can also find some free open-source animated logo creators are well. These include Blender3D, Wings 3D, and Art of Illusion. Keep in mind these solutions come with a definite learning curve, but when you’ve mastered them you will notice the difference in the quality of the work.
Finally, you could always hire a freelancer to do the work for you. There are plenty of great freelancing sites. Freelancer, Upwork, and Fiverr are obvious choices. In the past, I used Twine and worked with a great freelancer.
